| Traffic remains out of police's control at SMGS hospital | | Hospital authorities write to police to claim 'untoward' incident in waiting | | SUMIT SHARMA
Jammu, Oct 12 : An untoward incident is in waiting to happen anytime at SMGS hospital as vehicles from outside Jammu have managed safe parking at the entrance of SMGS hospital road, choking the vehicular movement and debarring the other vehicles to enter the hospital. What adds up to a messy situation further is the wrong parking on road that leads to SMGS hospital. It adds to woes of the patients as heavy traffic jamming almost blocks the movement of the ambulances carrying ill to the hospital. Feeling aggrieved over the traffic mismanagement on main road leading to the hospital, the people have urged the concerned authorities to take meaningful steps that can retrieve the roads off traffic jams. The indifference on the part of the traffic police can be gauged from the fact that despite of number of reminders from SMGS hospital authorities, no concrete step has been taken from the department. The hospital authorities had also shot notice to the SSP Jammu apprising him the imminent untoward incident which could claim precious lives. It is also learnt that the hospital authorities had called on the government some time back to asking it outline a comprehensive plan to ease the traffic congestion in the hospital as heavy traffic jam on limited parking space added worries to the people. Incharge Medical Superintendent of SMGS hospital Dr Dara Singh when contacted said that he received numerous complaints related to the traffic mismanagement and wrong parking at the entrance of the hospital and reacting to the complaint he wrote to the police for streamlining of the traffic. He also fears of the untoward incident at the hospital. The vehicular movement on the road stretch from Ayurvedic Hospital to SMGS Hospital has become the cause of concern as the same is creating a lot of problems for the people going to SMGS Hospital. Motorists said they face inconvenience when they reached at SMGS hospital as their destinations as traffic is not being regulated properly by the traffic cops. IG Traffic Muneer Khan when contacted said that he had no knowledge about t wrong parking outside SMGS hospital, however, the same could be corrected by tomorrow, he added. Meanwhile SSP Traffic Jammu Manmohan Singh giving information said that he often pressed the service of the vehicle lifter crane whenever he came to know about the wrong parking. He further said that people should be aware of traffic rules so that traffic mess could be escalated. SSP Jammu Atul Kumar Goel assured of deployment of police personnel on that particular stretch to avoid untoward incident and for smooth vehicular movement. |
