| Probe demanded into fraudulent drawal of funds | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Oct 12: Kuldeep Kumar Rao, president Tehsil Thathri Development Front, in a press handout issued here has demanded thorough probe into fraudulent drawal of money from government treasury by Rural Development Agency Thathri Block in the name of construction of protection wall at temple village Joura Kalan Panchyat ward No1, Block Thathri in a specific case besides several others such cases. An impartial probe was demanded in the whole Block. Rao said that a protection wall was constructed at temple in ward No1, Panchyat Joura Kalan 20 to 25 years back by a local on his own expenses, but has fraudulently been shown by the RDD officials of the area to have been constructed by RDD & a huge sum of Rs 0.40 lacs drawn from government treasury. This is simply a tip of ice berg and several such anomalies & fraudulent drawals from government treasury is rampant without any check. Rao said that though there is an open saying & custom of charging 30 to 40 % commission in Rural Development works, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has again openly admitted that corruption cannot be contained in coalition type of governance. That is why J&K state stands at No1 in the list of most corrupt states in the country as per investigation of "Transparency International". Rao said and added that present case be immediately handed over to crime branch for thorough probe if the Omar led government is sincere to the development of rural areas without allowing public money to go under drains. Rao further added that because of menace of such commissions, no body conducts inspections of works on spot and as such the development is shown on papers and nothing is seen on the ground. He appealed Chief Minister & RDD Minister, Ali Mohd Sagar to order a detailed inquiry so that guilty officials are brought to book failing which matter shall be brought to the notice of Crime Branch or Vigilance organization which will unearth & expose a Pandora's Box. He further urged upon the Minister In charge to issue directions to all RDD functionaries not to charge any commission from any body in lieu of allotment/ work done payments. These instructions need be circulated through press for general awareness of masses. |
