| Month long 'Dogri Folk Dance' workshop concludes | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 17: A month long Dogri Folk Dance workshop on "Dandars" concluded here at Studio Ranglok Jammu. The workshop was organized by Natraj Natya Kunj, Cultural Society, Jammu and J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages, Jammu. Abhishek Bharti directed the workshop and it was assisted by Aaditya Bharti. Veteran social activist Dr. Karan was Chief Guest on the occasion and PL Parihar and Er. Vijay Kumar were Guest of Honor on the occasion. Dandaras is performed in Lok Natya "Haran" which is a part of rich Dogra Cultural Heritage. This dance form includes pair of partners holding sticks in their hands and performs rhythmically on the beats of Dhol, speacilly designed for Dandaras. During this workshop guidance regarding "Dandaras" was given to budding artist by Kumar A 'Bharti'. Dr. Sudhir Mahajan shared the views on the importance of preservation of these dying folk art forms. He also discussed the problems being faced by the folk artist who are actually performing these art forms in rural area.
