Azad-Soz tussle hits fresh roadblock in announcement | Two leaders dropped from reconstituted PCC | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 17: In what can spring utter surprise in some circles within the Congress , the tussle between the two stalwarts Prof Saif-u-Din Soz and Ghulam Nabi Azad has deprived at least two senior leaders of the party to become what they aspired to be among the top functionaries of the reconstituted body of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee. Their name has been dropped from the list that was in the stage of getting final nod from the High Command following differences over their choice for a particular post at the higher level in the new body. Sources said even as All India Congress Committee is learnt to have approved the reconstituted J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, the new panel which is not being announced for unknown reasons, is now hitting a fresh roadblock particularly over a couple of names which have crossed loyalties, implying one of the belongs to Azad camp and one in the Soz camp. It is major hitch in getting this pending task on the fast track, said the sources adding that ego clash between the two big guns in having their choicest nominees on board PCC for a long time now is marring the prospects of the new body assuming a real shape and starting functioning in right earnest. Sources said what may come as a shock for the person concerned and surprise to all is that Azad has straightway sought deletion of the name from the list who is considered to be closest to Prof Soz in his coterie of loyalists . Sources said while the Congress leadership is very keen to get this announced anytime soon now in the wake of putting things on track for election preparations, Azad's insistence in not having the name to be among one of the senior Vice Presidents of the Pradesh Congress Committee in the state has annoyed Soz. Sources also said while Azad is keen and means in not making the said leader Vice President , Soz has played a counter move in removing the name of another person whom Azad has strongly recommended to be a part of JKPCC at a senior level, again for the post of senior Vice President, elevation of both the leaders from general secretaries at present. Both these leaders are from Jammu, sources added. As for the choice of functionaries from Kashmir, there is not much discord as both are in agreement over most of the names for the executive body. However, the name of two senior leaders Abdul Gani Vakil and Ama Bhat has been confirmed for the post of the senior Vice presidents, sources said. There will be new faces in the reconstituted PCC and some of the names have been picked up from Youth body of the party , though all of them do not fall in line with the mandatory requirements as per their seniority and experience gained in the party, sources added. |
