DC suspends JE for land encroachment, illegal construction | FIR registered in Reasi land feud | | Jammu/Reasi, Oct 17: Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, has placed one JE of Public Works Department under suspension and attached with office of Chief Planning Officer for encroachment on state land and raising illegal construction during night hours. Meanwhile, an FIR too has been lodged in the matter. "Pawan Kumar, JE, PWD Katra Sub-Division was placed under suspension with immediate effect and further action initiated under Civil Services Rules during the official probe after the situation turned to be tense in Reasi on auspicious occasion of Eid following clashes between members of two communities, an official spokesperson said. According to official spokesperson Naib-Tehsildar Reasi upon receipt of information past midnight rushed to spot and noticed construction on war footing in Khasra Number 1155 near district hospital where construction has been banned by an order of Deputy Commissioner since June 2013. "Assisted by police party the material was seized and construction demolished, spokesperson said. Meanwhile, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner FIR No 143/2013 u/s 154 was lodged at Reasi Police Station by Tehsildar against the JE and others involved in encroachment and illegal construction. As per the orders issued by Deputy Commissioner Reasi Dr Shahid Iqbal, a team comprising DySP Headquarter J D Slathia, Tehsildar R K Ananad, Naib Tehsildars Rajesh Baru and Prithvi Singh along with field officials and police party visited the spot in question last night and demolished the illegal construction at Kh No. 240, 241 situated at Village Sailanjan where clash between two groups erupted yesterday leaving 9 persons injured and 2 FIRs registered in the matter. Meanwhile, a show cause notice too has been issued to authorities of NHPC Salal for abandoning the land acquired in 1984 which now has become a dispute between some groups of people. ACR Tilak Raj Sharma has also initiated the Magisterial Enquiry into land dispute at Sailanjan and issued notices for appearances. Revenue and Police officials have also been summoned for investigation. A notice has also been issued to general public for deposing before the Magisterial Enquiry for investigation into clash between rival groups followed by violation of Section 144 imposed prohibiting forcible closure of markets and unlawful assembly in public premises including district hospital where some youth were beaten by protestors.Police are also investigating into violation of Section 144 order issued by District Magistrate and an FIR is likely to be registered. Deputy Commissioner Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and SSP Sharief Chouhan accompanied by other officer toured to various areas and also held review meeting to assess security situation. A number of social and political organizations today met the Deputy Commissioner Reasi and appreciated prompt action of district administration to resolve the matter which had turned into a politico-religious issue. |
