Govindsar populace seeks Govt's intervention to check 'industrial pollution'

Kathua, Oct 17: Highlighting problems associated with industrial pollution in their locality, locals from Chack Ram Chand (Govindsar) urged the State Government and concerned authorities to take stern action to stop this menace.
Led by Rtd Col P.L Choudhary a large number of locals raised their voice against ever increasing industrial pressure in the area and menace like industrial pollution related to it. They alleged pathetic condition of the area is due to pollution and callous approach of the administration and government for being adopted liberal industrialization of the area.
Recalling that village is known for its bravery as two of the young boys Shaheed Capt Sunil Choudhary, Kirti Chakra, Sena Medal and Sep Joginder Singh, Sena Medal have given their supreme sacrifice for nation but their next of generation is being made vulnerable to health ailments and poor health courtesy poor polices. Col Choudhary told that a few industrial units have been set up just along the boundary of Primary School Chak Ram Singh and adjacent to village Chak Ram Singh and these industries are emitting pollutants/dangerous substances thereby made lives of general public and school children miserable. "Recently a young boy of this village and only son of parents has died due to cancer, he said.
Local lamented that the matter was brought into the notice of Director SPCB, Kathua that widespread emission of pollutants and dangerous effluents discharged by these industries is taking toll of animal and human health in the area but all attempts turned futile.
Locals have urged the district administration and state government to strict action against any unit failing to meet 'environmental' criteria to save precious human lives.
