Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 17: JK Little Millennium School (JKLMS), Talab Tillo, Jammu observed 'Global Hand Washing Day'. As per press release, the campaign was initiated to reduce childhood mortality rates related respiratory and diarrheal diseases by introducing simple behavioral changes - hand washing with soap. This simple, accessible action can, according to research, reduce the rate of morality from these diseases by almost 50 per cent. The students were enlightened that the first-ever Global Hand washing Day took place on October 15, 2008 in countries all over the world. The students of JK Little Millennium were made aware about hand washing with soap as the single most effective and inexpensive way to prevent diarrhea and acute respiratory infections (ARI), as automatic behavior performed in homes, schools, and communities worldwide. The event was concluded by Rajni Gupta, Director, JK Little Millennium School by declaring that when it comes down to sharing good hygiene practices, children can act as agents of change by taking the "hand washing lessons" learned at school back into their homes and communities as these are the segment of society which is often the most energetic, enthusiastic and open to new ideas.
