early times report Srinagar, Oct 22 : Despite tall claims of the state government about the improvement of basic facilities in government schools, the government boy's middle school Lankar which is in dilapidated condition lacks basic facilities including drinking water, toilet due to which the students and teachers are facing immense hardship. Government Boys Middle School in Jogi Lankar, Rainawari functions from a rented building which is at its end as every time some part of the building comes down. "Every time some part of the building comes down and we start praying, fearing the building might collapse," 7th standard student in this school told KNS. "We usually fall ill due to dust that is always coming out from the decayed walls of the building," he said. Apart from lacking dilapidated condition of the school building, the school doesn't have any toilet facility and we have to go to the houses in the locality for using toilet. It even doesn't have a water tap," said another student. "Out of the five rooms in this school, one is meant for preparing Mid Day meals and another one for official purposes. The rest of the three rooms are meant for imparting education to students of all the nine classes. After the walls and roofs of many classrooms came down one by one. We had closed many rooms to evade any mishap," one of the teacher of this school wished not to be named said. Another teacher said that it is impossible for them to impart education under such conditions. Many times higher authorities visited the school and promised a lot, but nothing was done. Meanwhile Aggrieved parents of the students while talking to KNS said, "We approached the concerned authorities on many occasions and apprised them about the problem, but no one paid any heed towards our problems". |
