Jehangir Rashid SRINAGAR, Oct 22: Jammu & Kashmir Youth Development Forum (JKYDF), organized a seminar at Zaberwan Park on the banks of famous Dal Lake here to discuss the negative role of Tribal Invasion on Kashmir in 1947. The speakers during the seminar highlighted how Tribal militia unleashed reign of terror against the people of Jammu and Kashmir. "In the past years separatists used to force Kashmiris to observe Black Day on October 27 which coincides with the arrival of Indian army in Srinagar. People were led to believe that their problems started after October 27, 1947. Pakistan provided funds and support to all anti-national groups including Hurriyat Conference to observe Black Day on October 27," said Farooq Ahmad, chairman JKYDF. Farooq said that sovereignty of the state was violated on October 22, 1947 when hordes of tribesmen from North West Frontier of Pakistan attacked and invaded the state. He said these people killed and looted people irrespective of the religion. He said that people of state should fight against the injustice and wrong policies of Pakistan that have been going on for the last 65 years. "It is a historical fact that Jammu & Kashmir was independent after the end of British Raj and that Tribal Invasion was supported by Pakistani authorities in clear violation of the Standstill Agreement concluded between the Maharaja Government and government of Pakistan," said Farooq. President Socialist Democratic Party Dr. Drakshan Indrabi said, "If people of Pakistan can hold demonstrations against injustice in Pakistan and no one questions their loyalty and no one calls them traitor, then why should we be afraid of holding demonstrations against those who do injustice to us." The other speakers who shared their views on this occasion include Advocate Bilal Ahmad, Engineer Ghulam Hassan and Bashir Ahmad Sofi. The seminar was first of its kind and attracted a lot of interest by the concerned stake holders. People from all walks of life which included lawyers, journalists, doctors, businessmen, politicians and students participated in the seminar.
