Congress on fast track to consolidate position, party
Modi factor over riding JK political landscape?

JAMMU, Oct 22: Of late, the Congress cadre in the state is making concerted efforts to woo various political leaders into its party fold.
Though it may not sound strange that all political parties try to consolidate their position by taking into its fold the high-stature politicians before jumping in fray for any elections, the present eagerness shown by Congress is just not limited to only this, but has some strong reasons that validates their desperation of doing so.
" Since National Conference is standing flimsy grounds because of its control getting slipped away from the valley even in the present turbulent times and the fissures in the party vis-a-vis chief minister Omar Abdullah's incompatibility with some of its senior leaders in the party, Congress, the coalition partner in the governance has already distanced itself from it and has started garnering support of new faces for the consolidation," admits one of the senior Congress leader pleading anonymity.
He also confirms that besides the 'consolidation exercise', Congress, which has its major stakes and base in Jammu as its forte and nucleus for actual seats consolidation is a chunk area for focusing its thrust, the party wants to make effective inroads into its peripheral domain also and hence is leaving no stone unturned .
Also though, it faces no great risk from Bhartiya Janta Party as well as People’s Democratic Party to outdo their lacklustre presence in the area, however, the Modi factor that has overcast a paranormal spell over the local mindset in Jammu region is somehow irking its plans.
"Yes, the Modi aspect , though still not of any impinging cause seen here so far, can be damaging factor as soon the election fever sets in," said the Congress leader. It is pertinent to mention here that as per a small review of the things in the adjacent villages of Jammu in the wake of unprecedented border shelling and firing, people who form the biggest chunk of the voters in the state assembly seem to have started owning Gujarat chief minister Narendera Modi as their role model leader.
"This time our vote is for development only. We are watching the development of events in the state and will cast our franchise in the favour of development oriented parties who would present a bonafide document on it," said Jagdish Lal of Abdullian, RS Pura. Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) chief Jugal Kishore Sharma endorsed the views presented on Modi's influence all set to strike it big in state elections.
"This is quite true that Bhartiya Janta Party has taken the entire country by storm since Narendera Modi's stature as a man of development has emerged. It is not only in Jammu and Kashmir, but in the entire country Congress has been stunned by his model of governance and is desperate to dig all out for face saving," said BJP president Jugal Kishore adding that BJP would make a striking dent to the political scenario of Jammu and Kashmir.
