Udhampur, Oct 21: District Police Udhampur today organized Police Commemoration Day at DPL Udhampur to pay rich floral tributes to the police martyrs, who sacrificed their lives while serving the nation. Garib Dass, IPS, Dy. Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range presided over the function and offered guard of honour to the Police martyrs along with the Commemoration Day parade contingents of District Police. All the families of police martyrs of District Udhampur besides retired Police personnel, prominent citizens & distinguished guests were invited by Anil Magotra, SP Udhampur at Police Commemoration Day Parade to pay homage to police martyrs. After the guard of honour, floral tributes were paid at Shaheedi Smark by the family members of Police Martyrs, prominent citizens and distinguished guests. As a token of remembrance, gift packs were given to all the family members of police martyrs by District Police, Udhampur. During the occasion, the sacrifice made by ten Jawans of CRPF patrol party, who sacrificed their lives while protecting Indo-China Border on 21st October, 1959 was recalled, since when 21st of October is observed as Police Commemoration Day in all over the country. All the family members were requested to come forward to local Police with any kind of problems being faced by them and utilize the services/facilities/welfare measures being offered to family members of Police Martyrs by J&K Police. All the jurisdictional officers were directed to extend all possible help to the families of Police Martyrs, even if the matter is out of the jurisdiction of police, so that they may not feel alienated after losing their nearers and dearers. Benam Tosh, outgoing Addl. SP Udhampur, Khalil Ahmed Poswal, new Addl. SP Udhampur, Suram Singh, Dy.SP DAR (now SP) among others were also present in the function. |
