| MJR takes out peaceful rally from Gadigarh to RS Pura | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 22: Paying tributes to martyrs of tribal attack aided and abetted by Pakistan on 22 October, 1947, members of Movement for Justice for Refugees of 1947 (MJR-47) today hold a peaceful motorcycle rally from GadiGarh to tehsil office RS Pura and submitted memorandum to Tehsildar RS Pura. More than a hundred motor cycles and 200 people joined the march holding placards in their hands. The rally covered all the Refugees basties residing alongside the Jammu RS Pura highway. Addressing the rally in Tehsildar office, comrade Om Parkash Khajuria said, "The genocide which started in 22-oct-1947 long lasted on 25-November-1947 in which thousands of people from Mirpur, Mujafrabad and Poonch were killed defending their region". He said that this is only through the resistance of migrated people that the tribals raiders didn't reached to Srinagar. He also pressed the center and state government for ignoring the refugees of POK-1947. He demanded immediate relief and rehabilitation package for the refugees of 1947". Also addressing the rally Dr. Padam Raina said that 22-0ct is dark day in the history of India when thousands of people were massacred by the kabalies. He said that the condition of refugees has still remain deteriorated till date and the government is doing injustice with refugees of POK -1947. "We have remained discriminated in the same state where one section of migrant has been provided with all the facilities and we have been provided nothing", he said. Also Krishan Lal Raina said that, lakhs of families displaced that time-and now there is 12 lac refugee population present in various parts of state. He urged all the refugees from different areas to join hand in hands to press for their demands. Manik, a youth refugee said that, grave injustice has been done with the refugees of 1947. Even the right to equality has been violated. We are not been treated equally with other migrants from Kashmir. Why there is unequal treatment with us. At the end a memorandum was also handed over to CM through Tehsildar R.S Pura, a charter of demand and a tribute letter was also given along with the memorandum. Main among them who were present were- Dara singh panch, kundan lal Sharma, madam lal, vinod raina sarpanch, Nirmal singh (Poonchi poet) and others. |
