Srinagar, Oct 22: Scores of people visiting Passport Office today alleged that gate keepers demand bribe from them before letting him into the office.
A delegation said that Passport Office Srinagar has become the hub of corruption where a common man could not make an entry without greasing the palm of gate keepers. A resident from Vethpara, Lasjan, Irfan Ahmed said that he was not allowed to enter into the Passport Office as he refused to pay the bribe demanded by the gate keepers. He said that one of the Gate keepers categorically told me that, "It is not possible to meet Passport Officer without 'Chai Pani'." Despite repeated attempts, the Passport Officer could not be contacted. |
