Rajouri, Oct 22: Believe it or not Land Mafia, corrupt Revenue and other Govt Employees including some from Municipalities of Thanna Mandi and Rajouri, the lawlessness has stepped beyond limits while some elements are openly encroaching Govt Land that too under the nose of district administration alleged a Non Government Organization Rajouri.
Leveling serious charges SK Mughal, president Social Justice and Media Secretary NGO, (Adv) R K Mehta, said that this was disclosed by the revenue department of the state and has demanded CBI inquiry in to nexus between land mafia, politicians and officials of the district administration.
Alleging that in Thanna Mandi Municipality about thirty Casual/&daily Wagers have been engaged through Backdoor appointment, while Land Mafia have started construction shops in Govt land in front of municipality, Mughal warned Thanna Mandi Municipality to immediately remove the encroachment otherwise NGO will start agitation. Citing records, he said, "According to revenue department information over 2 lakh acres of government land has been encroached in the Jammu region and Rajouri where approximately 49502 acres have been encroached tops the list in notoriety followed by Doda district where 22193 acres of government land was encroached. Records also highlight that atleast 20940 acres of government land is under clutches of land mafia in Ramban district while Jammu district with 20444 acres of government land is on 4th position. He also added that in Kashmir province, according to official statistics of J&K Revenue department, 52866 acres of land has been in illegal occupation/encroached by the land mafia while there is no encroachment of state land reported in Leh and Kargil districts of Ladakh region as per government records. |
