113th birth anniversary of Shaheed Asfaquallah Khan celebrated

Jammu, Oct 22: AISF State council organised a function to celebrate the 113th birth anniversary of Shaheed Asfaquallah Khan.
Ajaz Ahmedwhile addressing the state council threw light on his life. Shaheed - Ashfaq-Ulla-Khan was a freedom fighter in the independence movement who had given away his life along with Ram Prasad Bismil.
He was a good Urdu peot. His pen name was 'Hasrat'. Asfaqualla Khan was the first Muslim who was hanged in a conspiracy against British.
He was born on 22 Oct 1900 in Shahjahanpur (UP). He was a close friend of Ramprasad Bismil. He participated in non-cooperation movement alongwith Bismil when Gandhiji withdrew the non-cooperation movement.
Ashfaq was also one who joined revolutionaries. The revolutionaries organized a meeting and decided to loot the government treasury for revolutionary activities. On 9th August 1925 Ashfaqualla Khan and eight other revolutionaries looted the train under the leadership of Ram Parsad Bismil.
On 26th Sept. 1925 they were arrested from Shahjahanpur. Asfaquallah was arrested after 10 months of Kakori Train look and was detained on 19th Dec 1927. He reached the hanging rope and kissed it saying these words.
"My hands are not soiled with the murder of man". The charges against me are a bare false. Allah will give me the justice". He was hanged. He was the great son of soil who sacrificed his life for the freedom of his motherland.
Ajaz Ahmed appealed the AISF members to follow the path of their revolutionaries work for their dreams of one nation. Others who were present on the occasion include Dr. Akash Manhas, Dr. Sandeep Chib. etc.
