| HC issues warrants against Chief Engineer R&B, others | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 22: The J&K High Court today issued bailable warrants to the tune of Rs 10000 against Chief Engineer R&B and three other officers of the department for not filing reply in a contempt petition filed by a helper of the department against non-implementation of orders by the court more than two years ago.
Hearing the petition filed by the helper Mohammad Altaf Dar, a single bench comprising Justice Ali Mohd Magrey directed concerned SSP to execute the warrants against the Chief Engineer and the other officers including Superintendent Engineer, Executive Officer (Qazigund Division) and law officer of R&B on next date of hearing.
The directions were issued after the court observed that despite last opportunity of four weeks granted to respondents on last date of hearing, neither the reply has been filed not are officials present before the court.
"All the respondents are directed to remain personally present before the court on next date of hearing," the court said.
The court directed that if the SSP fails to execute the order, he shall remain present before the court on next date of hearing.
The contempt petition was filed by helper, seeking implementation of orders passed by court July 7 2011 whereby the court directed the R&B officials to pay salary and arrears as per law to him within six weeks.
However, the respondents paid no heed to the orders by the court following which Dar filed the contempt petition. |
