| Stalemate between Leighton, workers must end: Dr Nirmal | | | Udhampur , Nov 5: Expressing solidarity with protesting workers of Leighton Company, Dr Nirmal Singh stressed upon the Government to avoid confrontation and find out an amicable solution to the issues through negotiations with the representatives of workers unions and associations. Dr Nirmal Singh who met with protesting employees stressed upon the Government to avoid confrontation and find out an amicable solution to the issues through negotiations. “The long pending demands of the Chenani-Nashri workers should be given a patient hearing by the management and an amicable solution should be reached at which can end this stalemate,” he demanded. Meanwhile ongoing indefinite strike launched by the construction workers of Leighton Company, engaged in construction of Chenani-Nashri tunnel, entered into the consecutive 11th day today. After giving apatient hearing to protesting workers Dr Nirmal Singh stated that they (employees) have apprised him that workers engaged with constriction site at Chenani-Nashri tunnel-road project are not being paid even minimum wages and are deprived from benefits of Employees Provident Fund Act and work site lacks sufficient safety mechanism. |
