| Factionalism within PCC re-emerges ahead of Rahul's rally | | Azad faction ignored in extending invitations | | Akshay Azad
Jammu, Nov 5: Despite claims of unity within the Azad and Soz factions of the Pradesh Congress, the differences have come to the open again ahead of the hyped rally of AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi. Carrying on the legacy of factionalism, the faction led by Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee president Saif-ud-din Soz has invited only selected persons of his faction in the rally of All India Congress Committee vice-president Rahul Gandhi. Sources said that along with invitations to Panchayat representatives, many senior leaders of Soz faction were also invited in the function by organizers but invitations were not sent to senior functionaries of faction led by Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. "None of the former Corporators or Mayors of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) associated with Azad faction have been invited in the rally of Rahul Gandhi", a senior Congress leader said, adding that such tactics were not in the larger interest of Congress party as same would only weaken the party and increase the gap. He further said that instead of repeated efforts of Congress High Command to bridge the gap, the state unit of Congress was not in a mood to mend the strife relations. |
