| Information Department turns into Event Management Coy for Pradesh Congress | | Works overtime for success of Rahul's rally | | Akshay Azad
Jammu, Nov 5: The state Information department which has a defined role and mandate as an important arm of the government functioning has reduced itself into a private event management company of Congress Party as it is working overtime to ensure the success of All India Congress Committee (AICC) vice- president's rally scheduled for Tuesday. For last few days, the entire official machinery of the department is leaving no stone unturned to ensure all required arrangements at the venue of the rally- obviously on the instructions of the political big wigs in the ruling coalition. This is being done despite the event being a purely political show of the state Congress and its coalition partner in State and Centre Governments- the National Conference, which is making a last ditch effort to ride on the Rahul Gandhi's magic with the hope that it may steer it clear from the increasing public discontent in the state. Reliable sources said that from the installation of the Public Administrative System to ensure maximum coverage of the rally, the Information Department officials are busy in making arrangements in violation of the official conduct. "In turn, from the lower rung up to the highest level officials are ringing up each and every Newspaper and individual journalists inviting them for the coverage of AICC vice-president," sources said. They said that the department has taken over the responsibility of issuing the invitation card to the journalists citing the security reasons despite the fact that the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has also issued special Identity cum- Invitation cards to the delegates which it has invited from across the state. Castigating the Information Department, Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) state president Jugal Kishore Sharma said that it was totally unfair that a government department has turned into a private company for Congress party. "Congress is habitual of using government machinery for securing political gains which was totally unfair. The Congress has already lost people's faith, besides being coalition partner in Jammu and Kashmir, it has also failed to empower panchayats. Now it is using government machinery to give wider coverage to Rahul Gandhi's rally but such cheap tactics will not strengthen lost faith among masses", he asserted. |
