| Congress’ policies ‘pro-poor’: Madan | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 5: Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament representing Jammu-Poonch constituency, Madan Lal Sharma today said policies of the UPA government at centre are ‘pro-poor’ and urged party workers to ensure that the benefit of centrally sponsored schemes reaches poor and marginalized sections of the society. While addressing a gathering at Rehari Jammu Congress MP said that Policies and Programmes of Congress Party are people centric and pro poor. Congress MP said that BSUP, Street Venders bill, Food Security Bill, Land Acquisition bill, MG-NREGA etc are the examples which the world communities also adopting now. He also appealed the Sarpanchs/ Panchs to reach Stadium to attend the Programme of Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi who has given a new vision and life to the Party. He said that on the recommendation of Rahul Gandhi Panchayats have been given their due share and Congress is committed for improving governance at Grass root level. Elaborating further Sharma said that BSUP (Basic Services for Urban People) under which Rs.2.75 lakh is given to the poor people of Urban under BPL Category having 2 marla land for construction of houses, food security bill will provide subsidized ration to 75-80% people of the Country. He also lauded the UPA Govt. for passage of the street vendors (Protection and Promotion of livelihood bill 2011) as it has given sigh of relief to daily bread earners. Congress leader appealed the State Government to ratify these bills and implement in J&K on top priority for benefit of poor and needy. He maintained that the Congress is the only party which can move nation forward with secular image and credentials. Prominent among present on the occasion includes Manjit Singh Ex. Minister, D S Langey, Anil Chopra, Kanta Bhan, Shiv Kumar Sharma, N.K Bali, Sunil Maini, Vishal Chopra and many more. Earlier Sharma participated in Pooja at Jain Bazar Jammu on the occasion of immersion of Kali Mata Idol at Tawi River Panjtirthi area . |
