Jammu Nov 5: Bharatiya Janata Party today slammed Congress Party, for repeatedly be-fooling the elected Panchyat representatives on the issue of Panchyat empowerment in Jammu & Kashmir and appealed the Sarpanchs and Panches not to attend the Rahul Gandhi's Panchyat rally and to teach them a lesson. State Vice President of Bharatiya Janata Party Vibodh Gupta in a press statement slammed the national Vice President of Congress Party, Rahul Gandhi for repeatedly be-fooling the elected Panchayat representatives on the issue of Panchyat empowerment in Jammu & Kashmir.
Criticizing the Congress leadership, BJP leader Vibodh said about three years have gone by but the Congress leaders have been still befooling panchayat representatives on the issue of empowerment of panchayats. He said "From last three years state government has just befooled the elected panchyat representatives on panchayat empowerment, so Surpanches and Panches should openly oppose the Congress and should support BJP as the party is Continuously fighting for implementation of 73rd and 74th amendments in J&K and on the formation Modi government at Center BJP would take it to the logical conclusion. He also appealed the Sarpanchs and Panches not to attend the Rahul Gandhi's Panchyat rally and to teach them a lesson.
He said the failure of the government to strengthen Panchayati Raj institutions in the State is a clear indication that Congress leaders are giving statements only for public consumption while they are internally not serious in strengthening democracy at grassroots and now Rahul Gandhi, by organizing the Panchyat rally is testing the patience of elected panchyat representatives in the State. "Had Congress leaders been serious in holding civic bodies' elections or strengthening Panchayats, the government would have taken some concrete steps in this regard," he said, regretting that Congress leaders were "indulging in double standards." He questioned the integrity of Congress by saying that on one hand Congress is enjoying the luxuries with National Conference and on other hand it is befooling the people by organizing the rallies of Surpanches and Panches. |
