| NCP condemns arrest of Salaria,other labourers | | |

Kishtwar, Nov 5: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Kishtwar unit today condemned the detention of Bodh Raj Salaria, State President National Indian Trade Union (NITU) on Chenani-Nashri tunnel row.
While addressing a meeting, State General Secretary Ajaiz Naik condemned the detention of Salaria and other laborers who were simply pleading the case of labourers working on Chenani-Nashri tunnel project who were demanding enhancement of wages and other welfare benefits for the laborers having provision under labourers law.
He said that demanding wages and other benefits under law is their basic right. Naik also expressed his deep anguish over the law enforcing agencies for lathicharge on peacefully protesting workers. He urged the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for immediate release of all the detained labourers to avoid anguish and resentment of the labourers which is presently simmering deep in the hearts of labourers
Among others who spoke on the occasion included Ajeet Baghat, Sadat Doolwal, Shanawaz Ahanger, Masood Munshi and Ghulam Hussan Ahanger. |
