Sports Reporter JAMMU, Nov 26: The 157 Territorial Army (TA) today became the first side to reach the last eight stages of the quarterfinals in the ongoing Ist Sant Gurbaksh Singh Danna Memorial Hockey Tournament under the aegis of Hockey Jammu and Kashmir at K K Hakhu Stadium, here. In the pre-quarterfinals, TA registered a 4-2 win against Jathedar Kapoor Singh Club. The Army men took three goal invincible lead in the first half of the match, including an own goal that came in the very first move of the game. Lakhvinder Singh (7th penalty corner), Parvinder Singh (16) and Vikram Singh (62nd) were the scorers from winning TA. From Jathedar Club, Gurpreet Singh (49th) and Rajinder Singh (53rd) sounded the board after the breather. The match was witnessed besides others by Executive Engineer (PDD), Gurmeet Singh. Meanwhile, in another preliminary round match, Zorawar Club Satwari trounced Baian Club 5-2. Rakesh Vaid (3rd), Haresh Vaid (14th), Jaswinder Singh (18th), Tanvir singh (22nd) and Baldev Singh (42nd) were the scorers from winning team. From Bagh Baian Club, Gurdeep Singh (40th) and Swastik Bhat (53rd) reduced the margin. In this match, Principal Government SPMR College of Commerce, Satinder Singh was special guest. Today's matches were officiated by the technical penal including SP Singh, Iqbal Singh, Mandeep Singh, Jagjeet Singh, JS Reen, Indpal Singh, Charanjit Singh, Ravinder Singh (Bitta), GS Bakshi and MS Reen. FIXTURE: Sittu Club Simbal Camp shall meet Singh Club Bandhu Rakh at 1.30 pm while Guru Nanak Nagar Club shall take on Lachipora Kathua at 3 pm tomorrow. |
