Kishtwar Tragedy : 8 killed as TATA Sumo plunges into river Chenab
Guv, CM express shock, grief over mishap

Kishtwar, Nov 26 : In a tragic road mishap, eight persons were killed when a TATA Sumo in which they were travelling skidded off the road and plunged into the river Chenab at Kaligarh near Darub Shalla under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kishtwar this afternoon.
As per police reports the ill-fated vehicle bearing registration No.JK06-2656 while was on its way from Kishtwar to Thathri met with an accident at Kaligarh near Darub Shalla area falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kishtwar.
"On receipt of the information Police rushed to the spot and started the rescue operations.
The occupants of the vehicle were retrieved and rushed to Thathri hospital, police said further adding, "Five person were declared as brought dead by the doctors in the Thathri hospital while two other injured succumbed their injures taking toll to seven. District administration officials of Kishtwar along with Health Department rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
Meanwhile the seriously wounded person who was airlifted to GMC Jammu for specialized treatment has been declared as brought dead by doctors of GMC Jammu further taking the death toll to eight.
Police spokesperson said that deceased have been identified as Kotwal Chand (35 years) s/o Tara Chand r/o Tippn Banjwah , Dev Raj (45 years) s/o Jamit Raj , Abdul Kabir (40 years) s/o Ab. Aziz both residents of Banoon Banjwah, Rajinder Kumar (29 years) s/o Jagdish Raj r/o Dugga Saroor , Kuldeep Kumar (48 years) s/o Munshi Ram , Tirath Ram (25 years) s/o Lakmi Chad both residents of Chanasu Saror , Ashiq Hussain (42 years) s/o Ab. Ashiq Qazi r/o Thathri and Anil Kumar (20 years) s/o Kunj Lal r/o Bhaderwah .
Meanwhile Governor of State N N Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and Congress leader have expressed shock over the loss of human lives and have conveyed their grief and sympathy to the bereaved families.
