Omar again demeans chair of CM 11/26/2013 10:51:44 PM ET Report Jammu, Nov 26: Chief minister Omar Abdullah has once again lowered the prestige of the chair he is holding by identifying himself with region and religion at Tral on November 21. Condemning the scandal at Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPE) making a mention of former chairman Mushtaq Ahmad Peer, he said "the office was our own and not from Jammu and Ladakh. He is a muslim." His statement reflects his mindset of being only associated with the Muslim majority Kashmir region and also sends the message that he doesn't have that much feeling for Jammu and Ladakh regions where people of different religions co-exist. It's in line with the statement he made about the Kisthwar violent clashes when he said one Muslim and two Hindus were killed and this statement was criticized from all the quarters. The Chief Minister in his five-year tenure had not said anything like about Jammu and Ladakh. "Addressing a rally in Jammu had he ever said people who suffered along the borders were our own and not of Kashmir. People of Jammu region have suffered immensely because of the mindset of a section of people in Kashmir," said senior leader, wishing not to be named. CM is at the fag end of his tenure is deliberately raking up these issues and language to show him as one who concerns about the Kashmir and ordinary Kashmiris. He is trying to do so as his government has failed on all accounts. He knows that he can't hope to even repeat the performance of last elections. And he is banking on Congress to get back to the chair. Omar knows that by banking too much on Congress and that too in public could also do him damgage as Cong is seen as nationalist and Indian force and this is not to the liking of a section of people in Kashmir. It 's for this reason Omar attempts to rake up such issues the manner in which he addressed terrorist Afzal Guru as Afzal Sahib.
