Programme 'actors at work' inaugurated at ICCR Jammu

Jammu, Nov 26: A five day programme of performances and training 'Actors at Work' inaugurated here today at the ICCR Campus, Jammu.
Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India is introducing a unique theatre programme through this work in which internationally trained actor/director Asheish Nijhawan is experimenting a new concept of actors preparation under its Horizon Series. This five day programme was inaugurated here today by the Regional Director ICCR, Jammu Balwant Thakur with the lighting of traditional lamp at the ICCR campus.
Speaking on the occasion Balwant said that through this unique initiative of ICCR, an international concept of actors training is being introduced by the world's most latest developed techniques of actors training. ICCR being an International organisation take pride in bringing for Jammu the global concepts of new training methodologies.
The trainer Asheish has learnt the best of the methods from London International School of Performing arts and the same will be shared with the privileged participants of this programme. ICCR received over one hundred requests for this training programme and the workshop director after conducting proper auditions of the applicants selected only twenty artists who will undergo this five day full time training programme.
The director of the workshop Asheish who after post graduating from National School of Drama (NSD) has undergone specialized Theatre and Acting training in London International School of Performing Arts, UK. Having worked with the top directors of the world, in the last 5 years he has been associated with various international projects in India, South Africa, Uzbekistan and UK and has participated in esteemed international theatre festivals like GATS and ATEC at Beijing ,China.
In this unique theatre initiative which is being introduced in Jammu for the very first time, each day one performance will be held at the ICCR camps at the culmination of the day.
The artists who are undergoing this five day training programme includes Shazia Batool, Zeeshan Budoo, Varun Sharma, Kuldeep Kumar Mehra, Ravinder Manhas, Abhishek Mahotra, Anmol Sharma, Max Thakur, Ronak Pandita, Gazalgeet Kour, Rajan Thakyal, Nitin Manhas, Usha Rani, Atul Sharma, Ashiq Hussain Bhat, Sachin Sharma, Vickey Kaw and Namit Dubey. The workshop is being coordinated by Meenakshi Dogra, Reena Salathia, Mohd. Yaseen and Vishal Sharma.
