Vijaypur, Nov 27: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) organised a financial literacy cum quiz competition programme for senior students of Govt. Higher Secondary School Vijaypur. The programme was organised by the District Development Manager of NABARD, Surinder Singh. Speaking on the occasion, Singh apprised that this programme is organised under Financial Inclusion Plan programme of Government of India with an objective for creating awareness about the importance of having a bank account, management of money, importance of savings, advantages of saving with banks, other facilities provided by banks and benefits of borrowing from banks. The speakers discussed about the evolution and structure of banking system in India, concept of money management, how to achieve goals with proper financial planning, plug non essential expenses and increase savings etc. The students were also educated about various types of accounts in the banks and how to open and maintain these accounts. The Education Loan facility available with banks for the students who wish to pursue higher studies was explained in detail. Lastly, an on spot quiz competition was organised wherein various questions from the inputs given during the programme were asked from the participants. The students gave an overwhelming response to the quiz competition. The prizes were distributed among the winners. Around 150 students and 45 staff members participated in this programme. B M Sharma, LDM Samba, S L Sharma, FLCC Head Samba, Mahesh Gupta, Director RSETI and Ajitpal Sharma, Micro Insurance Consultant were also present during the programme. Dev Anand, prinicipal of the school presented the vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude towards NABARD for organising the financial literacy cum quiz competition in his school. |
