| Kishtwar Polytechnic students asked to appear in practical exams at Jammu | | Students threaten stir | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Kishtwar, Nov 27 : Annoyed over the callous attitude of Department of Technical Education, the 3rd semester students of Polytechnic College Kishtwar on Tuesday held a protest inside college premises against Board of Technical Education. The protest was triggered against department of Technical Education following its directive to the students to appear for practical examination at Jammu as Kishtwar Polytechnic College lacked laboratory facility. While talking to media Persons, Aaga Shaie, a student leader said that most of students were from poor families and could not afford the expenses for staying at Jammu. He said that despite repeated request to the concerned officials, the department of Technical Education failed to address the students' concerns and added that future of over three hundred Kishtwar polytechnic college students was in jeopardy. He demanded that government of Jammu and Kashmir must pay all the expenses to the students in case they had to take their practicals and Examination in Jammu. He said that they also held protest on 24 September 2013 outside DC Office Kishtwar in which many students got injured due to police canning. He said that the administration had assured them that their demands will be fulfilled within 2 weeks but till date nothing had been done. He threatened that in case the authorities failed to fulfill their demand immediately, they will be left with no other option except to launch massive protest and added that if needed, they will also sit on hunger strike. He urged upon Technical Education Minister for his personal intervention into the issue and also urged him direct concerned to conduct practical examination at Kishtwar instead of Jammu. |
