| NC doing damage to Omar by bringing in 2003 alleged BOPEE scam | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 27: National Conference in a desperate bid to salvage the credibility of Omar Abdullah governance, hit by the latest instance of sale of MBBS paper, is harming itself more than the PDP, which it's targeting. NC provincial president Devinder Rana had said that there should be a judicial probe on the functioning of Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) with regard to alleged leakage of papers pertaining to papers of postgraduate courses in 2003. He said the action against beneficiaries was stalled. Rana has made statement after taking a cue from the statement of Omar Abdullah who strangely said his government especially he is blamed if there is a sale of papers. Both the statements defy logic and are aimed at diverting the heat which is hitting the credibility of the government. The fact remains that if due course of law was not followed with respect to alleged malpractice in professional examination then NC is equally to be blamed as is then Mufti Sayeed government, who was then the Chief Minister. NC was the principal opposition party and if he had knowledge, which it now claims, then why the issue was not raise vociferously and a public mood was created against the allegedly scam in the papers. The recent 2G scam and other number of scams came to fore because of the consistent pressure by the opposition parties in the Parliament which forced government to take decision and send Cabinet Ministers to jail. NC didn't do anything like. It didn't go for issuing press statements and holding protests like the present opposition party is doing. It could also be on account of the fact the Omar Abdullah was enjoying perks and privilege of being a Cabinet Minister in Vajpayee led government rather than feeling for the young students of the State. Now when Omar is himself heading the government he is now trying to defend himself with lame excuses like he feels ashamed about former BOPEE chairman , the main accused, for not being a local and also for spoiling the career of hardworking students. At that time this kind of statement was not issued by him, probably he was not even aware or didn't care to bother. Omar had again shown his ignorance and lack of interest in governance when he said he can't be blamed for the scam. Being the head of the State the blames purely and squarely lie with him in the manner he extended extension to this tainted former chairman. |
