SRINAGAR, Nov 27: Taking cognizance of a Early Times report about a scam in Srinagr's city's face-lifting on the occasion of darbaar move early this year, the concerned Minister, Abdul Majeed Wani set a deadline for enquiry but forgot to form a probe committee.
After firstly exposing the Srinagar face lifting scam on 18.10.2013 and later carrying repeated stories on the said scam with elaborate document details in connection with the same, Minister for Roads and Buildings, Abdul Majeed wani on 18.11.2013 on record said that he has came to know about the fraudulent measures used during the face lifting of roads, kerb stones, police beats, electric poles conducted by the contractors in nexus with some R&B officials and is keen to take a strict action against all such people.
He said that fraudulent measures used by the concerned contractors in nexus with concerned R&B officials during the shifting of traditional Darbar move last time from Jammu to Srinagar and set a one week deadline on 18.11.2013 to inquire the matter and bring the culprits to the book of law.
Today after nine days when Early Times contacted the minister, he said he forgot to form the committee. The concerned Minister assured that tomorrow after reaching the office his priority would be to go through this matter himself, start inquiring about the scam and complete the process of investigation within three days only.
The Srinagar face lifting exposed by early times alone in its various stories since the first week of November 2013 as per the document details in possession of Early Times reveals that during the face lifting of roads across the main city Srinagar on the eve of Traditional Darbar move shift from Jammu to Srinagar in the month of April 2013, face lifting allotment orders worth lakhs of ruppes were allotted from the offices of the Executive Engineers (R&B) Construction division no Ist and Division no Second to many contractors. as per the allotment orders, time period for the completion of face lifting of roads, clearance of side drains, washing of kerb stones, painting of kerb stones, police beats, iron grills, making of Zebra crossings etc ranges between 10 to 15 days and the work conducted on such places must last for one working season. However, as reported by Early Times previously as well on the bases of concrete evidence not only substandard material was used by the contractors in nexus with some concerned R&B officials during the work, but also work of face lifting on many roads could not be completed till six months, besides the work done on roads which as per the details mentioned in the allotment orders should have last for one working season exists nowhere on many roads and nobody among the concerned officials could make any contractor responsible for anything instead bills were released in their favour.
