Bashir Assad SRINAGAR, Nov 27: Like many other institutions, the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education which is headless for last six months is completely in mess which is adversely affecting the careers of thousands of students enrolled with it. After the serious allegations of out of syllabus papers for Class 12th, the BOSE is now facing credibility crisis in other parts of the state. Reports of paper leakage in Reasi, protests in Kishtwar on paper setting, mass copying in Budgam, Kulgam and Kupwara districts in Kashmir valley have shattered the faith of the people in this institution. This according to some one is only because the institution is without chairman for last six months and the officials down the line are not accountable. But the government too can't shy away from its responsibility for discrediting this institution. It is astonishing to see that the government constituted a five member Search Committee headed by Principal Secretary Home on October 15 but so far barring an introductory meeting, the Committee has met not even once what to speak of recommending a panel to the government. Sources within BOSE told Early Times that the institution is in total mess and even some officials are hell bent to communalize the atmosphere for their partisan interests. They said that indiscipline is ruling the roost in BOSE for being headless for last six months or so. Meanwhile, sources said the Search Committee is meeting in Jammu on Friday, the 29th of November to discuss and recommend a panel for new Chairman and Secretary for the BOSE. Members of the Search Committee include the Home Secretary (Chairman), Secretary Education, Secretary Higher Education, Secretary Housing and Urban Development and Former Chairman BOSE, Sheikh Bashir Ahmad. Given one month time to make the recommendations, the Committee has so far been able to hold only one meeting of introductory nature, sources said. "The Committee held a meeting last month which ended without finalizing the names as it was an introductory meet," sources said and added that the Committee was given one months time to suggest a panel which has already expired on November 16. |
