Dogra has left legacy of secularism, socialism, honesty: NCP

Jammu Nov 27: Former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh NCP president J&K state an old colleague of Girdhari Lal Dogra whose 26th Death Anniversary function was organized at Jammu by "Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Trust" today attended it in the presence of leaders from all political parties and people from Kathua district .
While addressing the gathering Thakur said that Late G L Dogra has left a very good legacy of secularism ,socialism , honesty, simplicity which is rare in these days and was a man of all virtues and true follower of Gandhi ji .
Singh said that he met Late G L Dogra in Nov 1947 at his native village Ghati Tehsil and District Kathua when he was student of 6th class and Dogra was leading a peace committee to Lohai Mallar and stayed with his father Late Zaildar Govind Singh was host and helped the team. The team was comprised of Ved Bhasin chairman Kashmir Times , Major Piara Singh, former minister , Nazir Hussain Samanani, editor of Daily
Sandesh and many dedicated secularists . Singh said these were the people who brought peace in Jammu province and rehabilitated the minorities who have suffered a lot.
Singh said that GL Dogra was a father figure and also a guide to young ministers like him who could implement various development schemes like the electrification of Holy Mata Vaishno Devi Cave and providing the tunnel, opening of Ladakh for world Tourism and could provide infrastructure of tourism in Jammu and introduced national permit as a Transport minister.
Thakur Randhir Singh presented to daughters of Late G L Dogra, Nidhi and Dolly an old group photograph of Late G L Dogra alongwith GM Sadiq then Chief Minister which was the smallest council of ministers in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. Late Gulam Mohd Sadiq who was one of the most honest and pioneer to introduce many central laws in J&K and brought Indian National Congress in Jammu and Kashmir in 1964 and G L Dogra always played a very significant role and was more than a Deputy Chief Minister though he was never designated Dy CM . Singh said it was a pleasure to be a minister in those days under Late GM Sadiq and colleague of Late G L Dogra who always encouraged the younger MLA's like him as both came from same district . Singh said that History is never out of fashion.
