| JKSAC delegation calls on Ajaz, demands proposed package's review | | | JAMMU, Nov 27:A delegation of Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) today called upon Revenue Minister Ajaz Ahmed Khan and apprised him about the brewing resentment among Displaced Persons (DPs) of 1947 from PoK regarding the proposed package of Rs 7000 crore being drafted by Government as one time settlement for DPs/ Refugees of various categories. An eleven member group of JKSAC led by its president Gurdev Singh described the package as totally unjustified, illogical and discriminatory so far as DPs of 1947 from POK are concerned.Gurdev Singh while interacting with the Minister expressed his serious concern for proposing only Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh for rural / urban categories of DPs of 1947 from PoK, is certainly not in commensuration with the material and physical loss each DP family has suffered. They have been deliberately kept in distress and pain for the last 66 years, he added. Singh said that the package being proposed by Government is too less in comparison with what they are giving to Kashmiri migrants who suffered negligible loss of property and human life. The coalition Government is urged upon to weigh again the loss suffered by Kashmiri migrants as well as DPs of 1947 from POK. Minister Ajaz Ahmed Khan listened to the delegation very patiently and had discussion on certain issue relating to their permanent settlement and assured the delegation for recommendation of Rs 30 lakhs relief package for DPs of 1947. |
