Kathua, Nov 27: A team of officers from the Legal Metrology department conducted intensive checking of Sweet Shops, Karayana Shops, vegetable Seller, fruit seller Goldsmith, flourmills provisional stores, Bar and Restaurant, at Dayalachack, Pathwal Chadwal, Kathua, Nagri, Bhagthali, Logate Morh, Bani, Sarthali, Janu, Bhoond and adjoining areas.
A total of 28 traders were booked for violation of various provisions of J&K Weights and Measures Enforcement Act 1997 and Package Commodities Rules. Out of 28 challans booked 26 challans were compounded and a penalty of Rs 29300 was imposed on the erring traders in the month of November 2013..
The team was headed by the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Kathua Ajay Verma and comprising of the Inspector Legal Metrology Kathua Vicky Sharma and Inspector Legal Metrology Dayalachack Devi Lakhanpuria.
The Department has warned the erring traders to desist away from using unfair trade practices to cheat the innocent consumers and also appealed to the consumers to remain vigilant while purchasing commodities. |
