| PNB distributes ACCs, KCCs among farmers | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 28: In its drive to reach out to the people of the rural areas of the state and provide easy credit to them, Punjab National Bank organized Kissan Credit Card (KCC) and Artisan Credit Card (ACC) disbursement function at Dhar Bagh, Harwan, Srinagar. The function was inaugurated by Mohd. Latif Mir, Deputy General Manager, Circle Head J&K Operations who was accompanied by Sajad Qadri, Additional District Development Commissioner, Srinagar. 65 KCC were distributed to the farmers involving a credit outlay of 60 lakhs in which farmers of adjoining villages of Harwan participated. Mir in his welcome note gave broader outline of Kissan Credit Card and Artisan Credit Card schemes aiming at providing adequate and timely support from the banking system to the farmers, artisans and genuine entrepreneur in their productive ventures in the state.He added that the scheme of KCC will be beneficial to the farmers for boosting their agriculture activities and help them in meeting timely short term credit requirements for cultivation of crops, post harvest expenses and profitable marketing of their produce.He informed that Kissan Credit Card has provided to be an ideal tool for expansion of Agricultural Credit especially Crop Loans in the length and breadth of the state. This in turn has helped farmers to buy quality seeds, enhance land use and increase agricultural production, he added. He further said that KCC/ACC happens to be cheapest and affordable as the effective Interest rate for a regular repaying borrower comes down to as low as 4% per annum. Encouraging the people present there to diversify into other allied agro based activities like horticulture & floriculture, he assured them all possible financial support through. Sajad Qadri, ADC appreciated the role of PNB in reaching out to the people and farmer community in particular in rural and far flung areas. He urged the villagers to avail the maximum benefits of the KCC/ACC schemes so that their economic conditions can improve. He expressed satisfaction over proactive role played by Punjab National Bank in reaching out to the unbanked areas of the state.A large number of beneficiaries and staff members of the Bank were present at the function. |
