| AMCCC terms Omar Abdullah as weakest ever CM of Jammu & Kashmir | | Demands his resignation, asks Guv to step in | | Jehangir Rashid SRINAGAR, Nov 28: All Migrant Camps Coordination Committee (AMCCC) today demanded resignation of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah following recent expose of Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) scandal in which former Chairman of Board, Mushtaq Ahmad Peer sold question papers of Common Entrance Test (CET) 2012 against hefty amount. Talking to Early Times, AMCCC chairman, Desh Rattan Pandita after chairing a meeting of the Committee said that Omar should own the responsibility since it was the present Government that appointed Mushtaq Ahmad Peer as chairman of BOPEE. Pandita said that the present Government has no right to stay in power and the CM along with council of Ministers should resign. "It was Omar Abdullah that appointed Peer as BOPEE Chairman in 2009 and after that the Government appointed him as consultant in Services Selection Board. This clearly shows that former BOPEE Chairman enjoyed support and patronage of the Government. As such Omar should own moral responsibility and resign," said AMCCC chairman. He said if CM does not resign then Governor NN Vohra should step in and dismiss the State Government. Taking a dig at the statement of Chief Minister that he is not aware about people who are behind the BOPEE fiasco, Pandita said that this shows that Omar is too weak and is not aware about the happenings going around him. He termed Omar as weakest ever Chief Minister of the state and said people are fed up with the present dispensation. "Investigative agencies like Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) should be given free hand to hold probe in the sale of CET papers for 2012. It is important to extend the scope of investigations and hold probe in selection of candidates for MBBS and other professional courses in Kashmir over the past one decade or so," said AMCCC chairman. Pandita said that thorough probe should be held in the BOPEE scam so that the identity of Ministers who are backing the main culprit is known to the people. He said both the Ministers and bureaucrats are responsible for mess in the various sectors of life with education sector getting the maximum beating. "Since doubts have been cast in the selection of Patwaris done by BOPEE it is imperative that this too is probed by Crime Branch. The backdoor appointments that have taken place in the past decade or so should also be probed. This may give a chance to make the system clean from inefficient people and fresh faces are appointed in the Government sector," said AMCCC chairman. Besides Pandita, the meeting was attended by RN Dhar, General Secretary AMCCC, Kuldeep Koul, RL Sharma, KV and Manzoor Ahmad Naikoo. |
