Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 28: As countdown for BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's rally has started, political parties of the State are anxiously waiting for Modi's speech at Jammu.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has already predicted that Narendra Modi is going to rake up the controversial issue of abrogation of Article 370 to create division among different regions and communities. Congress, which is part of the coalition Government headed by Omar Abdullah is "guardedly" waiting for Modi's address.
Congress leadership is of the opinion that Modi is likely to rake up some emotive issues to revive morale of the BJP cadre in Jammu and Kashmir. Congress leadership is very much aware that Kashmir would never be target of BJP so Modi's speech would be revolved around those issues which help party to mobilize public opinion in Jammu region.
Congress leadership has reasons to be worried because party would be biggest loser in case Modi magic clicked in Jammu and Kashmir. Modi magic, if clicked, would help BJP to further expand its base in Jammu region which is stronghold of Congress. Expansion of BJP with Modi magic would damage only Congress party in the State.
Congress leadership is worried that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's reactionary statement against Modi's speech would polarise situation in Jammu and Kashmir. In case of any polarisation, it is only National Conference and BJP which would be beneficial politically so Congress leaders anxiously waiting for Modi's speech and further reaction from the side of Chief Minister.
PDP leadership is also waiting for Modi's speech because Modi's Lalkar Rally would set political agenda in Jammu and Kashmir in general and Jammu region in particular. PDP leadership is of the opinion that any controversy statement from Modi would polarize situation in this region.
