| Congress might contest all 6 Parliamentary seats | | Understanding eludes coalition | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 28: Congress has decided to go all alone in the next Parliamentary election if it fails to reach understanding with National Conference on four seats. Party has made up its mind after National Conference insisted on leaving just two seats for the Congress. National Conference may agree to give up Anantnag seat as PDP president Mehbooba Mufti who is party candidate from there is a winnable candidate. But it's not willing to offer Ladakh seat to Congress. "NC should know its graph is on decline and it can't win more than one seat. The Congress is resurgent and we are talking on our strength. If the NC is not realizing it then we will go all alone," said a senior Congress leader. NC feels that if it gives four seats to Congress then it will give an impression that NC is playing second fiddle to the Congress and it will not go well with the party cadre in the coming Assembly polls, which in all probability would not be contested in alliance. Congress feels that every single seat would count in the Parliamentary election and it's for this reason it doesn't want to keep NC happy just for the sake of the alliance. "In the Parliamentary elections which are being polarized by Modi, every seat counts and we are hopeful of winning a minimum of three seats so we will not go by diktats of NC which has lost ground all over the State," said a Cong Minister. NC leadership had already got in the huddle after it got to know about the Congress mindset. Party leadership is also deciding on forcing Congress to contest just two seats in Jammu region and leave the rest of Kashmir and Ladakh region to it. "Congress has base in Jammu and should confine itself to it only there. If it decides to assert itself from Jammu, there is every possibility of us snapping the ties," said NC leader. |
