| Protest held against inflation of vegetables prices | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 28: The workers of the Dogra Front and Shiv Sena Jammu & Kashmir under the leadership of president Ashok Gupta took out a procession from Parade Ground which concluded at City Chowk against the inflation of the prices of vegetables. While addressing the gathering Gupta stated that UPA 2 in its election manifesto has given a commitment to the people of this country to provide food items at a very nominal rate, but in the month of November things have gone entirely the opposite way as the prices of vegetables are touching sky high. By carrying vegetables in the hands the protestors raised slogans against govt. Earlier the vegetables used to get costly due to the climatic factors but now the pulses, cooking oil etc things which are used for food consumption are now very costly due to which the people of this country are not able to fulfill their basic necessities of life. The cost of tomatoes is Rs 80, ladyfingers Rs 100, capsicum Rs 80, Onion Rs 60, Ginger Rs 120, Garlic Rs 130. The essential food items like onion, potato, tomato which are grown in Maharashtra which is the home state of the agriculture minister Sharad Pawar there has been a 100% surge in the prices of the above mentioned food commodities because the concerning agriculture minister has hoarded up these commodities which has led to the surge in the prices. The UPA government has failed to check price rise due to its faulty economic policy. People are unable to bear the burden of inflation and the economy seems to have stagnated. The government has also failed to check rampant corruption, Gupta said. Apart from seriously hurting national pride this drastic fall is directly related to the gross mismanagement of Indian economy by the present UPA Government. It has been the constant refrain of this Government that the fundamental of Indian economy is strong but the fact is otherwise. Tearing into the Central government, the senior Gupta said that "corruption and inflation" have become hallmarks of government and snap poll is the only option for the country in such scenario. However, the larger question is of mismanagement of economy. Any sound economy must depend upon robust domestic investment and savings. These become pillars of strength to sustain the economy. However, the hard fact is that Indians are not investing in India because atmosphere is not conducive. There is corruption, indecision, overwhelming uncertainties and policy paralysis. Except inflation and fiscal deficit all the other parameters of Indian economy from import-export, infrastructure development, manufacturing to industrial development all are down. Indian economy today is in shambles under an economist Prime Minister and there is no hope that in the last year of its existence, the crumbling Congress led UPA Government will be able to retrieve the situation. The price rise in the country is due to the corrupt Politicians, corrupt Ministers and the beaurocrates in present scenario of the country. The ruling party of Jammu & Kashmir figures at top in the list with convince of the Politicians the pulses are imported from the other countries in lower rates and selling with the convince of the Ministers in the higher rates it is due to the corruption only. The Prominent workers those who participated in the protest were Vikram Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Geeta Devi, Raj Kumari, Bantu, Nanak Chand and various others were present. |
