| Anjuman holds weekly literary meet | | | Jammu, Nov 28: Anjuman Farogh-e-Urdu J&K Jammu held its weekly literary meeting under the chairmanship of its president Amin Banihali. At the outset tributes were paid to Abdul Latief Malik who had died on 25th November 2011. His efforts to make the Anjuman purposeful were discussed and remembered by every member. Death of an ace sculpture and artist Gayoor Hassan was condoled who had died last week. Anjuman facilitated a known Urdu writer of India Nand Kishore Vikram and Pakistani writer Aziz Butt for having been awarded by the Majlis Farogh-e-Urdu Qatar for their contribution in the Urdu literature. Naaz Nizami a well reputed poet of Bhaderwah was also facilitated as his latest poetry book was released at an impressive meeting at Bhaderwah a few days back. Members were informed that it was disclosed in the Parliament in writing by the minister concerned that in the year 1957 there were 513 Urdu newspapers that were being published. This number had increased to 5822 at the end of 2012 meaning thereby that Urdu language is not vanishing but flourishing. Hussaini Mushiara organised by the Cultural Academy on 22nd of November 2013 came under discussion and was criticised for many reasons. Those who recited their poetic compositions included Amin Banihali, Aas Bhaderwahi, Ballal Ahmed Ballal, Ashraf Banihali, Riaz Ahmed Raz and Khurshid Kazmi. |
