Mother of three gang raped in Kishtwar forest

Kishtwar, Nov 28: In a shocking incident of savagery against women, a mother of three children was allegedly gang raped by five persons inside deep forests of village Hadar in Kuntwara area some 35 Kms from Kishtwar.
As per the relatives of the victim, she went inside the forest for collection of dry wood on Wednesday afternoon, but did not return home till late night.
They said that when the victim did not return home, they brought the matter into the notice of police at local police post.
They alleged that police initially refused to take cognizance of the complaint, but added that after the matter was brought into the notice of SP Kishtwar Police acted swiftly and launched search operation in nearby forest. They said that after elaborate search, they found the victim in unconscious condition in the middle of the forest. They said that from the site police also recovered some contraceptives, beside some intoxicants.
They said that on the bases of circumstances, they suspect that she was raped which was later confirmed by the victim after she regained her conscious.They said that police with the help of relatives of the victim shifted her to District Hospital Kishtwar for medical checkup. In her initial statement, victim's family members claimed that she named five people who committed gang rape on her. Police registered the case and launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.
Earlier sensing trouble, police party led by Dy. SP (DAR) Sheikh Mushtaq after receiving the information about the crime immediately rushed to the village and shifted the victim to District Hospital Kishtwar.
Addition SP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom and SHO Police Station Kishtwar rushed to District Hospital Kishtwar.
Additional SP Kishtwar refused to divulge any details with regard to the case. However police sources informed that one of the accused surrendered at police station Kishtwar and pleaded not guilty. Police sources added that police were verifying the claims of the accused.
