PIL challenging Reservation Rules of 2005
HC seeks affidavit on status of committee

Jammu, Dec 17 (JNF): In a Public Interest Litigation filed by one Ashok Sharma a Social Activist challenged the rule 17 of Reservations Rules framed State of J&K under Reservation Act of the state.
A Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Hasnain Massodi after hearing Advocate Kuldip Singh Parihar appearing for the PIL whereas Sr. AAG Gagan Basotra appearing for the state, observed that Sr. AAG on the instructions given by Social Welfare Department has stated that a committee has been constituted to go into the issues raised in the instant petition and suggest amendment, if any, required to be made in Rule 17 of J&K Reservation Rules, 2005.
The court directed that affidavit to that affect be filed by giving status of the committee, its members and particulars of reference made within two weeks and directed Registry to list this PIL On December 30, 2013.
