JAMMU, Dec 17: While the set norms in Higher Education Department are being violated with impunity by some blue eyed, the officers as well as Minister of Higher Education too are reluctant to initiate action against those who have made colleges in Jammu appeasing centers for themselves.
Managing posting to preferred locations have become a trend in the Higher Education Department as seen in the case of a professor in Government Degree College (GDC) RS Pura namely Mehak Jabeen Mughal of Urdu subject who had managed her posting to this college despite the fact that there is no student to be taught in the same subject.
The influential professor, according to sources in the year 2011, due to non-appearance of any student of Urdu, another subject i.e Punjabi was introduced and the said teacher became a permanent beneficiary in the college by invoking blessings of some Higher Education Department officials against the norms.
ET learnt from sources that the soothing atmosphere has suited the teacher to the extent that for the last five years, she is evading her transfers to other colleges due to some political influence of the said professor.
Sources further said that a similar case has came to fore in GGM Science College Jammu where the sanctioned strength of the teaching faculty is 10, but a professor of Zoology, Narinder is withdrawing his salary against a post of Mathematics being the 11th professor of the college.
In the same college, in the Electronics Department, again the sanctioned strength is of 4 professors but in the same way a professor namely Rakesh Kumar has adjusted himself as 5th professor and is withdrawing salary against the post of Mathematics.
Like these two said colleges, there are so many colleges where teaching and non teaching faculty is still managing their postings by one means or other. |
