Jammu, Dec 29: The NGO 'Mother' in association with Social Forestry of District Jammu today jointly took up the drive and planted saplings of medicinal plants in a park located in Channi Himmat area. It was a treat watching men women and children-the residents of sector 5 Channi Himmat Housing Colony Jammu- with brooms and disposable bags in their hands cleaning public park, the only in locality, with loud message emanating of love of their mother land, will to accept social responsibility, and above all, grooming of their children for nation building. The park used by security forces for long years was got freed after long struggle of residents about three years ago. The J&k Housing Board under close monitoring of Raman Bhalla, Minister for Housing, Horticulture & Culture took keen interest in providing basic essentials of a park including fencing, walking tracks, lights and the lawns. The park is open to the local floating population too. To ensure that it serves best the purpose of providing healthy environment to the residents, on the initiative of MOTHER THE NATURE organization that has its headquarter facing the park and is actively involved in its upkeep, the residents decided to clean their park regularly on last Sunday of every month in future. |
