Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 29: Though there was a nation-wide hue and cry against Delhi gang rape case of a young girl in recent past who later succumbed to her injuries in a private hospital, there is no check in forcible rape case in J&K including minors. This speaks volumes about deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
Recently three rape cases including of minor girls were reported from three places in Jammu region two were from Kathua district and one from Jammu district. Among them the two cases of minors one each was reported from Jammu and Kathua districts indicating the failure of the law and order situation in the State.
According to reports one minor girl was forcibly pushed into a barber shop at Basholi two days back when she was passing in front of the shop. The barber tried to outrage her modesty and the poor girl cried and fled from the spot. The Basholi police have registered a case and arrested the barber.
In another such case a woman in a Billawar village, while returning from her parental house to her home was intercepted by a youth in the way. The youth took her to a field and outraged her modesty. The woman filed a case in Billawar Police Station and police swung into action and arrested him.
Both the incidents took place on the same day and cases were registered in two police stations under relevant sections of the law.
In third case a minor girl was also molested in outskirts of Jammu city area by some youth in last week and the incident created a panic all around. This shows that the crime against the women is increasing and the Government was looking as a mute spectator.
The women organizations including the Nari Jagran Manch have taken a serious note of it and urged Government to ensure security of women in the State.
Besides some goons during late night hours few days back attacked a three- wheeler and inflicted injuries to its driver and another inmate. The Janipur Police has registered a case but no one has been arrested till date. The goons came into a flying jeep and attacked the three-wheeler.
