Jammu, Dec 29: The Medical Superintendent of Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar is reportedly in dock, for his alleged involvement in fraudulent withdrawal and embezzlement of funds to the tune of several lakhs. Moreover, a committee comprising of three members has also been constituted by Health and Medical Education department to enquire into the alleged involvement of Medical Superintendent and others in the alleged scam. Sources informed Early Times that Medical Superintendent of Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar has fraudulently drawn several Lakhs of rupees from Hospital Development Fund (HDF) between January, 2011 to April 2013. Moreover, sources said that the Hospital Development fund comprised of the money collected by Hospital for various checkups including X-Rays, Ultrasound beside others, OPD receipt beside others. "The Hospital also has funds under Rogi Kalyan Smiti, for Cancer patients, funds for purchase of various type of medicines required for the needy patients", sources said, adding that as per rough idea, Gandhi Nagar hospital collected around Rs 25-30 Lakh annually from various tests. As an estimate, the Hospital authorities have fraudulently drawn, misappropriated/embezzled HDF to the tune of around Rs. 50 Lakhs during the last two years. Taking action against the alleged scam, Health and Medical Education Department has constituted a three member Inquiry Committee. "As per government order number 646-HME of 2013 dated, 13-12-2013, three member committee comprising Medical Superintendent Government Hospital Sarwal Ravinder Khajuria, Deputy Director Schemes, Directorate of Health Services Jammu Ved Parkash and Chief Accounts Officer, Directorate of Health Services, Jammu Darshan Lal has been constituted", sources said. The committee, sources said, is directed to enquire into fraudulent drawal, misappropriation/ embezzlement of HDF, double drawal and irregularities in cash book taken place in Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar, Jammu with effect from January, 2011 to April 2013. The committee has been directed to submit its report within period of 30 days, sources said. Sources in the Health Department seeking anonymity alleged that the constitution of Committee was just a formality, and only for namesake, which would ultimately give clean chit to every individual involved in the misappropriation of huge public money. |
