| US based body extends support, says 'dynastic rule' in J&K should go on hiatus | | Commemorating Margdarshan Proclamation | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 29 : December 28 was yet another day of assertion of exiled Kashmiri Pandit community on separate homeland for them in the Valley which they said would satisfy the aspirations of seven lakh-members of the community. If the key organisations like Panun Kashmir and ASKPC held functions to commemorate Margdarshan Resolution on the occasion of 23rd Homeland day, avowed continuance of struggle for justice, far away in USA, one more organisation Diversity -USA, commemorating the 21st anniversary of the Margdarshan Proclamation went a step further and extended its full support to all minority ethnic organizations demanding reorganization of J&K State. Pertinently, the Margdarshan Proclamation was adopted by the general assembly of the exiled Kashmiri Pandits on December 28, 1992, which stood for a new political dispensation of J&K , the creation of a Homeland for the exiled Kashmiri Hindus and nationalists its main focus. The US based organisation in support of its argument has stressed that without such reorganization neither the internal crisis of the state nor the homelessness of the Pandits and Sikhs or issues related to the political equality of all major segments of the people can be resolved. Diversity-USA further contended that both the Indian and J&K governments have acted irresponsibly and callously towards the minorities of the state. The Pandits, Dogras, Buddhists, Sikhs, Shias, Gujjars and Bakerwals have been relegated to less than second class citizens after the control of the State was handed over to what it has alleged under a dynastic rule, Abdhullas being in centre of all attack. This practice has proved grossly unjust, undemocratic, in-human, anti-national and out rightly communal, the organization has further stated. The full blown criticism against the 'ABDULLAH DYNASTY' has gone so loud that majority view has prevailed that this 'DYNASTIC RULE SHOULD GO ON HIATUS', contending that political strategies and scheming by the Abdullah dynasty all types of Kashmiris have suffered. The dynasty has failed miserably in rising above the petty localism and communalism. It has further let down the nation by not shunning the divisiveness and disruptive walls of separatism borne out of the temporary Sec. 370 of the Constitution. As for extending its support to Margdarshan resolution, the US based body has argued that continued indifference and lack of action by the Indian government on the issue of restoring meaningful law and order and political equality by implementing the provisions, spirit and intent of the Margdarshan Proclamation has exposed the contradictory versions of democracy and human rights prevailing in India. Furthermore, not taking necessary measures towards ending the long standing powerlessness and disenfranchisement of the oustees from Kashmir, despite their appeals, pleas, petitions and non-violent struggle, leaves hardly any choice available to them but to look for methods beyond non-violence for the realization of their aspirations, which is why the call getting louder for "margdarshan' is inevitable. |
