Azad likely to quit Health Ministry for campaigning committee

Srinagar, Dec 29: Union Health Minister is likely to quit Union Health Ministry as he has been included in the panel framed to head campaigning committees for forthcoming Parliamentary and Assembly elections.
While confirming the nomination of Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad as the head of campaigning committee for Jammu and Kashmir for the forthcoming elections, highly placed sources within State Congress said that Azad is likely to quit the portfolio of Union Health Ministry.
The Congress core committee, sources said has decided that Azad and five other top brass leaders would head the campaigning committees of different states and the members of said committee would help during campaigning for candidates in their respective areas and would also be collectively monitoring the ongoing campaigning process of candidates.
Sources said that Congress general secretary, Ambika Soni is expected to form a campaigning committee for Jammu & Kashmir as well and it too shall be headed by Azad.
Azad is also supposed to strengthen the party. Pertinent to mention here that most of the Congress men are favouing Azad for Chief Minister instead of any other Congress member of the state. In addition the Congress men believe that Azad alone can counter the PDP onslaught both in Jammu as well as in Kashmir.
Sources concluded that lobbyism within State Congress which resulted in expulsion of many known faces over the years is seen as a negative factor for diminishing popularity of the party. However, the Congress high command has urged Azad and Soz to shun their differences in the interest of the party.
