JAMMU, Jan 14: A press statement issued here today by the State BJP conveyed the decision of the party High Command to media, however, the press release contained wrong information that the five of its MLAs' were suspended and not expelled. It may be noted that, in actual, the seven MLAs were expelled from the primary membership of the party for six years. While Prof Chaman Lal Gupta was expelled from the party in May, 2011, the expulsion orders of the six other MLA were executed in the month of October, 2011. The communique said, "BJP High Command has decided to revoke the suspension of five MLAs namely Baldev Raj, Master Lal Chand, Durga Dass, Bharat Bhushan and Prof Gharu Ram, who had been suspended from the party in April 2011 following allegations of cross voting in the Legislative Council election." The party state headquarters, while referring to a communication from BJP National General Secretary Jagat Prakash Nadda, stated that the decision in this regard has been taken following letters written by these MLAs to National President Rajnath Singh expressing their "unconditional" desire to work for the party as per the party's priorities and directives and therefore, requesting that their suspension may kindly be revoked and an opportunity be given to resume work for the party. Jagat Prakash Nadda, in his separate communication to each of these MLAs, conveyed the decision of the National President to accede to their request and revoke the suspension. |
