| Kamaal habitual of targetting Congress': Vakil From grandfather to grandson, NC ruled with Congress support | | | Et Report
Srinagar, Jan 14: Castigating Dr Shiekh Mustafa Kamaal for targeting Congress party on daily basis, senior Congress leader and former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that Kamaal forgets that his NC is enjoying power because of Congress party. He was addressing a meeting of INTUC workers at Gandhi Nagar Jammu today. Meeting was presided over by Sr. INTUC leader Jugal Kishore Sharma. "Kamaal is habitual of making 'senseless' statements and it has become a routine for him to spew venom against our party. He should keep in mind that NC will lose identity in case Congress stops supporting it," Vakil said adding that the allegations leveled by Kamaal are baseless and no Congress member ever was elected in the State through coercive means and rigging. He said that if Congress members are elected through rigging then why NC is seeking the support of Congress party. "History is witness to the fact that his late father Shiekh Muhammad Abdullah came to power in 1975 with the help of Congress and even his father recognized the contribution and essence of Congress party," he said adding that Kamaal is proving his late father wrong by leveling baseless allegations against Congress party. Vakil said that nobody can deny this fact from grandfather to grandson, NC ruled the State with the support of Congress. "Kamaal must tell his nephew to step down if he believes Congress legislators are eelcted through rigging," he said. Vakil said that National Conference should not politicize the issue related to the creation of Administrative units. "No decision should be taken on political basis in this regard and the government must take people into confidence by seeking suggestions from them before creating any administrative unit in the State," he said. The former minister took the Omar led government to task on creation of news administrative units. "Ghulam Nabi Azad during his regime created eight districts but there was no hue and cry till formal administrative order in this behalf was issued but this is unfortunate that for implementing recommendations of a Commission whole Government machinery is on roads which has hampered all other important works," he said adding that it is purely an administrative decision and needs consultation at same level.Vakil reminded Omar Abdullah of crucial phases of his government when government was at the verge of collapse but Congress whole heartedly supported the coalition and remained committed to the promise of supporting coalition without any vested interest. He said Chief Minister must think ten times before leveling allegations against its supporter. |
